An Essay to Compare Puritan Punishment to Modern American Punishment

In the Puritan and American societies, there exists two very different and distinct Justice systems. The people of the Puritan time had very different morals and values that those of the current society in America. Puritans were very much more religious oriented, as modern American society does not put nearly as much emphasis on religion. This very much affects the way people think, act, and react toward each other.
