There was no care or concern on his face. A strong wind began to blow, and the leaves in the tree started moving ghost-like through the air. An apple fell off the tree and landed in the boy’s lap. That is when the terror began. The sky began to darken, not the deep grey of storm clouds, but an ominous black that made the air thick with cold. A tremor ran under the ground a few yards away from the boy. The tree that marked the distance fell into a gaping hole that suddenly opened from the earth. Bright orange flames shot up through the center of the hole, nearly burning the boy from the heat, yet he did not move. He only stared until he heard a voice. Slowly he got up and moved away to the relative safety of the apple tree. The phantom voice called out again in an incoherent malevolent voice. His eyes could not b...
