All Fall Down by Zachary Alan Fox

All Fall Down

Death is very prevalent in today’s society since the outbreak of SARS. On Monday, April the 28th, a 13th Torontonian life succumbed to SARS. In the past six weeks, death has been close by our homes and cities. Not too long ago, though, murder was close, also. Regular gunfights existed every now and then, but during this past fall and summer, shootings in Toronto skyrocketed, particularly in the Jane and Finch area. Many of us wonder what kind of people would commit such heinous deeds. Zachary Alan Fox skillfully paints a picture of the workings of such a mind in Lowell DeVries his novel, All Fall Down. DeVries is not a normal man, needless to say. He, even at the young age of thirteen, raped unsuspecting females against their wills. As his age grew, his taste did not, and even as a man well into his forties, still enjoys the unwelcome company of young girls, four and up. He is a very sick and deranged man and is justly executed at the end of the novel.
