Alice in Wonderland: A Dystopia

Key Question: Explain how Wonderland fits the definition of dystopia, or an unfavorable fantasy world. In what ways do Alice’s experiences in Wonderland contribute to her confusion about who she is and what she knows? Although Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll is well known as a fairy tale or a children’s story, the novel is actually very violent and unpleasant at times. Carroll’s intentions are to dishonor and make fun of the English government. Therefore, he has to portray his thoughts through the novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
