Alexander the great

Alexander achieved many impressive victories throughout his lifetime, which, as you will see, was not a very long one. This timeline shows the dates of his victories and important aspects of his life.


Alexander the Great Timeline

356 BC Alexander was born in Pella. Phillip II conquered Greece. Olympias, Alexander’s mother, told him that he was a descendant of Achilles.

343 BC Aristotle was hired to instruct Alexander

340 BC Alexander finished his schooling. He was called by Philip to fulfil his government duties.

338 BC Alexander commanded the cavalry during the Battle of Chaeronea. This battle brought Greece under the control of Macedonia.

335 BC Alexander’s army demolished the city of Thebes because it had been revolting. The 30,000 inhabitants of the city were sold into slavery.

334 BC Alexander led an attack on Persia and was victorious at the Battle at Granicus.
