Alabama Tax Reform

Alabama citizens continue to debate whether or not the newly proposed tax plan is beneficial to our state. Many are especially outraged by the thought that a projected $1.2 billion tax hike is the only way to help our state out of the $675 million deficit created by our past years of state spending. The choices of Alabamians are simple, raise taxes, or start cutting programs that many citizens are accustomed to. Rather than debate the proposed tax plan, Alabama citizens should welcome it with open arms.

According to the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama, or PARCA, many changes would not affect citizens as greatly as they may think. President Bush recently created a federal tax cut to create a positive effect on the economy. The idea was to give people more money so that, in turn, they could spend it and boost the current sluggish economy.
