Air Transportation Specialists (ATSS)

Airways transportation specialists (ATSS) are like ambulances to air traffic controllers. They perform customer service to the aviation community providing FAA liaison between air traffic controllers, air facilities, contractors, airport operations, and international weather service. There are three major networks nationwide: one on the Pacific Coast, the Middle West, and the Atlantic Coast. The network on the Pacific Coast handles the flights of the West and keeps contact between the FAA and the other agencies in their third of the country. They also install and maintain electronic equipment and lighting aids associated with facilities and services required for aviation navigation to make sure they maintain a reliable, safe, and smooth flow of air traffic. Aviation accidents occur, and at some points, they are fatal, which is why ATSS’s have to be responsible. This way, the number of mechanical problems will be reduced, decreasing the chances of fatality.
