AIDS

AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficency Syndrome. This disease is caused by the infection with the HIV virus (Human Immundificiency Virus) which attacks the immune system.
When a person acquires AIDS, their immune system weakens, causing many infections that become life-threatening to the individual. The virus can also enter certain brain cells of the infected. This can lead to psychological disturbances caused by physcial damage to nerve cells.
