African Americans in Interracial Partnerships:
A Rhetorical Criticism

“Like it or not, mass media influences our views of what is possible. If the media does not provide positive images of Black-Latino partnerships, Black kids who do not have Latino friends are less likely to see themselves making Latino friends” (ColorQ, 2002). Now that the African American is just beginning to be properly represented on television, people must now look at their representation as partners of people of different races.
In this paper I will examine partnerships involving African Americans and persons of a different race by using the following question: How are African Americans represented through television and movies as members of an interracial relationships and what traits are being passed on to the next generation of viewers?
