Afghanistan

Mister/Madam President,
Honourable Members of the Security Council,

Recognising the remnants of the Taliban and Al Qaeda forces that pose a threat to the pending democratic federal elections of 2004 and the danger they cause to the stability of the Transitional Islamic State of Afghanistan, the Republic of Guinea affirms its enthusiasm in continuing the presence of the United Nations in the area to aid the Transitional Administration in upholding the ideals of the citizens to construct a fair and functional democratic government. Our nation has experienced the tragedies of war, with the recent unrest in Sierra Leone threatening the stability and well-being of our people. The Republic of Guinea stands vigilantly against any type of armed conflict, which is why we concur with the extended presence of the International Security Assistance Force in cooperation with the Transitional Administration to stifle any chances of returning to the pre-Taliban factional fighting state of Afghani...
