Affirmative Action

March 6, 1961 is the day that the American businesses changed for the benefit of the minority and women. President John F. Kennedy issues Executive Order 10925, which creates the Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity and mandates that projects financed with federal funds “take affirmative action” to ensure that hiring and employment practices are free of racial bias. Affirmative action is a tool that people use with sense of opportunity, when used in the right manner. I believe that the main focuses when discussed are saying arguments against affirmative action divert attention from the real issues of where American jobs have gone. Everyone is hurt by low wages and dead-end jobs. Wages are not stagnant and jobs are not lost because women and people of color have access to jobs that pay living wages.
