"Affirmative action" means taking positive steps to increase the numbers of women and minorities in areas of employment, education, and business from which they have been historically barred. When those steps involve preferential selection on the basis of race, gender, or ethnicity affirmative action generates intense controversy. Affirmative Action works, it benefit minority. When I heard about Affirmative Action I completely agreed with it. When I came to United States living in poorer inner cities made me appreciate Affirmative Action more. It somehow gave me hope and made me try even harder, so I will be accepted to university with the help of Affirmative Action. Minorities face discrimination everyday.
