Affirmation of human dignity in A Doll’s House
Nora was a woman who faced many moral dilemmas with her husband and society. Nora initially seems like a playful and naïve little girl, but ultimately proves how sacrificing and mature she is towards her husband. This essay focuses on Nora’s struggle through her predicaments with her husband and the society, Nora’s sacrifice and devotion to her husband, and Torvald’s attitude towards Nora. Nora, throughout her eight years of marriage, has never been happy with her life; rather, she was trying to pretend that she was happy in order to satisfy her husband Torvald. Nora gained her dignity as a human being by struggling through her dilemmas and by sacrificing her roles as a human being to satisfy her husband and society.
Nora has been sacrificing her roles as a human being to satisfy her husband, her father and society.
