The Affect of Comic Books in America

"Holy gadzooks Batman, what the world do without us?" Yes, what would the world do without Batman and Robin, or without any superheroes for that matter, would it be overthrown and ruled by a sinister super-villian with animal like powers? Probably not, but I know it would be a lot less exciting. Over the last centurie comic books and superheroes have made their impact mostly through the media and can be seen evrywere on television and are gettng widley noticed through movies. But there is a lot more to this art form then a couple of super strength humans fighting eachother on the silver screen.
In 1933 M.C. Gaines started compiling all of his comic strips that he wrote for the newspapers funnies to make his own book of funnies. The book that was produced was 68 pages and sold for ten cents, the catch to this was that his company he wrote for (Dell Publishing) only allowed sales of the book at a certian department store.
