Aeschylus

Aeschylus was born in Elusis on 525 b.c.. He was called father of Greek tragedy, because of being the predecessor of Sophocles and Eripides. Asechylus won against the Persians in 490, Salamis in 480 b.c.. During his life he only made three trips to Sicily. He died in Gela where a monument was erected in his memory. When alive Aeschylus wrote ninety plays. His first tragedies were performed in 500 b.c.. They were presented as trilogies, or groups of three, usually bound together by a common theme.
