Advertising: A Secret Weapon

Advertising now days is everywhere we look. Examples such as billboard signs on the highway, to commercials on television, companies are trying to persuade you to buy a certain product. Their product, which is supposed to be the best of the best on the market, constantly appears to buyers as appealing; a product you just have to buy. Catchy jingles, slogans, and brand names are the secret weapons used in advertising.
Most advertisements for clothing, bathing suits, etc, show shapely thin women and men; this makes our country think that fat is demeaning and not socially accepted. For example, I once saw a commercial on T.V. which advertised a brand of shampoo and conditioner,” Pantene Pro-V, will fix damaged hair but will also make your hair shiny and smooth.” The beautiful long haired girl in the commercial is another appealing factor that makes viewers want the product.
