Adolescent Behavior – What’s Normal About It?
Between the ages of thirteen and nineteen, adolescents complete certain tasks to become more independent. These include Individuation, Separation, and Autonomy. Adolescents may get piercing, tattoos, dying of the hair, and many other things to become different from everyone else. Adolescent tend to doing things that parents do not approve, and facing their own problems. These acts are done to become more independent and then slowly the adolescent wants to separate from the family. Such as not in participating in regular family activities, needing their own space, and making up their own schedules on what to do on weekends. During this separation, adolescents want to become self-govern themselves, develop their own values, and total independence. As adolescent develop the ability to think on their own, many start to think differently and some may even feel confused and stressed.
