Adolecent Pregnancy

When teens or preteens can become sexually active as early as 10 years old now, it’s impossible for adolescent pregnancy to not be a problem. At 13 years old, less than 1 out of every 10 males have had sexual experience. At 13 years old, 1 out of ever 50 females has had sexual experience. In their senior year of high school, around 66% of adolescents have been involved in sexual intercourse. Out of the 66% of adolescents who are having sex, 20% of those will become pregnant. Adolescents, who are defined as being between the ages of 10-19, struggle with everyday problems such as, peer pressure, high school, and teen/parent conflicts. It is not realistic to assume they can make wise decisions about birth control in that split-second decision given their impulsive nature.
