In Edmond Rostand’s play Cyrano de Bergerac the title character Cyrano is a brave yet ugly swordsmen who falls in love with his cousin. Consequently his cousin loves another man who is more handsome than Cyrano but not as intelligent or as good of a person. Cyrano strives to offend nobody good throughout his life and help those who are in need of his services. Even though he is not the most attractive man he is a strong person who strives to be the best. Cyrano’s intelligence, bravery, honor, and loyalty lead him to be admired by all until the hour he dies.
Throughout the play Cyrano shows his great intelligence to help him succeed in being a noble man. When Cyrano wins the two pages over a fine point of grammar his intelligence and in-depth knowledge of his language allows him to succeed where others fail because of this knowledge. His education is of such a great extent that he is able to win the pages from a wealthy man. Cyrano is so confident about his brillia...
