Adam Cooper

War is an incredibly terrible thing. It does very bad thing to good people. For people who do not know the disadvantages of war, many books display them. April Morning, by Howard Fast, displays the hardships of war very clearly. It describes a young boy, Adam Cooper, who is drastically affected by the Revolutionary War. He finds out, in the middle of the night, that the redcoats are coming to his town. He decides to sign his town's Muster Book. Adam Cooper is going to war! Soon Adam finds out, that signing the Muster book will change him forever. The war changed Adam Cooper's life from childhood to manhood overnight. "'Yesterday he was a boy.' Father replied, his voice dull and troubled,' Tonight, he's not,'"(73).
At the beginning of this book, Adam is still only a child. He is quite immature. In fact, he is still very superstitious. "When i drew the water from the well, I said the spell to take the curse of the water,"(4). Another example of Adam Cooper's child nes...
