Acheivement

In the novel, Grendel by John Gardner, I find that Grendel is not the character perceived in Beowulf. Grendel’s mother does not speak, so Grendel must have taught himself language. This shows that Grendel must be highly intelligent. He is very curious constantly questioning the world around him. His immense curiosity leads Grendel to question and examine his own life and existence. He is brave enough to find answers but not strong enough to live with them.
