Accidents and Some of Their Causes

Many people are killed each day to due to unsafe driving habits. “There were an estimated 6,356,000 car accidents in the US in 2000. There were about 3.2 million injuries and 41,821 people were killed in auto accidents in 2000 based on data collected by the Federal Highway Administration.” (http://www.car-accidents.com/pages/stats.html).

Numbers such as these could be improved upon if drivers would take more precautions, and do away with needless distractions such as, the use of cell phones while driving. The remedy to this would be a hands free unit. Excessive speeding, I’m sure, contributes to a great deal of accidents. Some deaths could be avoided by simply wearing a seat belt. Other accidents are inexcusable for example, drinking alcohol while driving, and abusing drugs. Intoxication takes many lives needlessly....
