Abortion

An abortion can be easily defined as the ending of a pregnancy. It should usually be done ASAP, during the first 12 weeks of the pregnancy or the early stages of the fetus’ development. At this time the fetus is usually only about 3cm long. The earlier the abortion takes place, the less of a chance there is of any complications. Also if the abortion is done early, the woman is just as likely, as any other woman, to have a healthy child in the future. It is proven that abortions are safe. They are one of the most successful and safest operations performed.
Local or general anaesthetics are used before an abortion takes place to control the pain. Sometimes when a woman has had an abortion, she may feel sad or emotional for a few days afterwards but having an abortion does not make a woman feel bad about herself later in life.
