Abortion

Our country is known for it’s freedom and basic Constitutional rights. Living in the United States, we are granted certain rights that people living in other countries do not have. We have fought long and hard to obtain the right to vote, freedom of speech, the right to privacy, and other important rights. Why is it then that we question the right of a woman to choose to have an abortion? Is it not her body? Is it not her choice of what she wants to do with it? If we were to allow the unborn child to have more rights than the mother, we will be making the pregnant woman a slave to the fetus. As a nation, we have abolished slavery a long time ago, but are still having a hard time accepting the legality of abortions. Abortions must be kept legal, to avoid deaths caused by illegal abortions, increases in unwanted and abused children, and most importantly since it is the woman’s body in question, it must be her choice to decide what she wishes to do with it.
