Abortion
In “A Defense of Abortion”, Judith Jarvis Thompson uses the arguments of pro-life advocates to argue against them. To do this, she automatically assumes for the sake of her argument, that the fetus is a person from the moment of conception. She does no herself think this to be true, but for the sake of having a good argument, this is assumed to be true. She continues through this argument to try to back up her position of pro-choice. I agree with Thompson’s pro-choice argument for abortion because she presents her arguments logically and clearly and backs them up with good support.
First, Thompson uses an analogy about life support. She asks that if one woke in the morning with a violinist plugged into one’s kidneys, would it be morally incumbent for one to stay plugged into him so he may live?
