Abortion has become one of America’s most controversial issues. Approximately 1.5 million legal abortions are performed in the United States each year.
What exactly is abortion anyway? Depending on who you ask, you will get different answers. The dictionary defines abortion as the termination or a pregnancy resulting in the death of the embryo or fetus. Some people say that various methods of birth control are the same as abortions.
Each year more that six million American women become pregnant. For more that half of them, it is by accident. About thirteen percent of unintended pregnancies end in a miscarriage. An estimated forty percent result in the birth of a child.
