Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity are different but interrelated. Each is directed toward achieving equal opportunity in the workplace. In order to make our own opinions, lets familiarize as to what Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity entail. Affirmative Action is an effort to remedy the effects of past employment discrimination and to ensure that such pattern does not characterize the present. It requires that specific steps be taken to eliminate discrimination and that positive efforts be made to recruit, employ and promote qualified members of groups formerly excluded, such as the minority, women, veterans and handicapped.
On the other hand, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) applies to all persons whether or not they are members of a protected class group.
