A Time To Kill – Opinion Essay


In the movie a time to kill I believe justice was served. The movie was set in a southern Mississippi town where racial tension runs high throughout community. Two white men drove
through the town recklessly in a pick up truck. They harass employees at a black country store and then attack a ten-year old girl and brutally rape, beat and leave her to die. The girl's father Carl Lee Hailey takes justice into his own hands and in an act of rage, shoots and kills the culprits in full view of dozens of witnesses in the courthouse where they are to be arraigned for trial. Carl Lee Hailey is then tried and proven innocent. I believe justice was served for the following reasons.

The movie A Time To Kill shows him having a family made up of a couple children and a wife. If he was sentenced to prison for life or given the death penalty he would not have been able to provide...
