A Tale of Two Cities & the Revolution
Louis XVI had a difficult task ruling France in the 1790’s. Times were hard, and everything was changing, for the worse. The economy in France was going downhill, and the people in France were getting fed up. The people of France could be broken into two groups, the nobility & the clergy, and everyone else. The upper class consisted of the nobility and the clergy, while the lower class consisted of everyone else. The upper class was taxing the lower class and living off of their money. Basically, the upper class was suppressing the lower class. The upper class was taxing the lower class, when the lower class could barely even afford to feed and clothe them selves. Since the lower class was made up of everyone who wasn’t the nobility or clergy, the number of the people in the lower class outnumbered those of the upper class largely.
