1. Introduction
I would like to talk about what the difference is between the bridge party and the tea party and in what different ways the people in Chandrapore, in E.M. Forster’s novel “A Passage to India” try to bridge the gap, with a special focus on chapter four to seven. In those chapters we find different locations and different people who communicate in different way. We will see how the people treat and respect each other and how new friendships are started. Also I would like to analyse the separation of the different groups of people with different goals and attitudes. In order to analyze this we have to take a closer look at the parties in Chandrapore.


2. The tea party and the bridge party
First we have to definite what a tea and a bridge party is. Then we can understand what the difference is and in which way they are effect the goal of bridging the gap between the East and the West of the golf.
