A Knight In Shining Armor

In Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, many characters are thoroughly described before the pilgrimage commences. In the Medieval Times of which the The Canterbury Tales took place, knights were prominent everyday figures. Chaucer’s description of the knight as being loyal, courageous, and filled with humility is the same as how the knights were in Medieval England.
By describing the knight in a positive tone, Geoffrey Chaucer has a lot of respect and dignity towards the knight. The knight has shown his loyalty by traveling to numerous countries and defending their citizens. Chaucer says, "He saw the town of Alexandria fall; often, at feasts, the highest place of all. Among the nations fell to him in Prussia. In Lithuania he fought, and Russia. No Christian man so often, of his rank. And he was in Granada when they sank" (51-56).
