A GEOLOGIC HOT SPOT SUMMARY
A team of marine biologists was lead by Robert D. Ballard. They went on a submarine, named Alvin, and dove 2550 meters to the bottom. They were looking for hydrothermal vents off the Galapagos Islands. When they went down and found multiple vents thriving with life.
