Plain Boiled Love

¡°Who¡¯s Irish¡± is told in the point of view of a 68-year-old Chinese immigrant. Her story is mainly about her relationship with her Son in law¡¯s family who are Irish. While reading this story I could tell that there were going to be many grammatical errors. Just after the second sentence there is a grammatical error,¡± I am work hard all my life¡±. I thought it was a typo but as I read further into the story I understood that grammatical errors were being used to define the narrator¡¯s character and personality. This was a very smart and clever move on the author¡¯s part, as I read the story I could literally hear the voice of the narrator (since I have heard many Asian immigrants talk this way). The narrator is very wise since she has seen the circle of life and has experienced living in two different countries. She has an open-minded approach to race and understan...
