"The Sculptor" and other short stories

There has always been a heated been shown through scientific studies that the environment molds the physical and mental state of humans. Other than scientific studies, literature throughout the ages has shown that humans change greatly because of their environment. In addition, many can relate personally, to how they have adapted and changed to the surrounding they interact with.
The physical surrounding forms what the person becomes as shown in evolutionary Darwinism but also in William Faulkner’s short story, “Dry September.” Faulkner uses the weather to show how it plays a role in the character’s action. He opens up his story with a description of the dry and hot conditions the in which characters are placed. The story sets after “sixty two rainless days.” The weather creates anxieties and tensions within the people. It is already late September when autumn is soon coming.
