If there is a secret of literature it can surely not be identified objectively. Literature is a vast patrimony of fictional writings conceived by a huge variety of authors with different historical and cultural standpoints. However, literature is a stimulus, which is consumed and appreciated not just by individuals but also by a group of individuals. That is to say that, beyond personal subjectivity with regard to literature there exist a space of communal appreciation of it. In this space of analysis, there exist a degree of agreement on the greatest texts of all time, and we can presume that the authors of these texts possess the secret of literature.
