“Mentoring” the Sales Force

The case, “Mentoring” the Sales Force, concerns Sally Ambrose and Bob Snowden. Bob Snowden is the Vice President of the branch offices and Sally Ambrose is a marketing representative. Currently, Sally is not performing to the company’s standards. She has enlisted the help of Bob through a formal company program of job enrichment for marketing representatives. Sally has to come over to Bob’s location in Jackson although her position is located out of the Meridian office. They have started training or at least discussing the training when Biff LaFourche, President of Provincial Life, sees them together at a local bar. Biff stops by their table and is included in the job related conversation. Later, on a separate occasion, an employee reports to Frank Anderson, Personnel manager, that she has seen Sally and Bob together in the Atlanta airport. Frank sees the employee’s concern as a problem, which he shared with Biff.
