“Last Cover”

“Last Cover” by Paul Annixter is an interesting story that anyone who has ever owned a pet could relate to. Every pet owner has the warm memories of buying, adopting or weaning their new companion, but unless they are just a small child, they all know that one day their pet will no longer be with them. Then the time comes where they have to give their pet away, or let it free into the wilderness. They may also have to go through with the pain when their pet dies or runs away. This story deals with the memories and emotions of having, and losing a pet into the hands of fate.

I was intrigued by the way the main character and his father dealt with their emotions. They both hid their emotions as best as they could, even though they peaked out occasionally.
