"Illusions"

“The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas”, by Ursula K. LeGuin, and “The Allegory of the Cave”, by Plato are short stories, that portray an illusion.
In the story, “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas”, the city of Omelas is described as having “Streets between houses with red roofs and painted walls, between old moss-grown gardens and under avenues of trees, past great parks and public buildings processions move” (LeGuin, 888). Boats are also heard ringing in the harbor and children’s laughter is echoed throughout the streets. Why would anyone want to walk away from the city of Omelas?
Just as the puppet shadows on the wall, in “The Allegoy of the Cave”, the city of Omelas portrays an illusion. There is a dark secret hidden under all the beauty that the city of Omlelas holds.
