“Comparing the Puritan Family Roles to the Roles in Your Family”

The Puritan ways of doing things were very strict. I’m so glad that I wasn’t alive in those times. I would probably want to die if I were alive back then. In those times, Puritan children were taught at an early age to work and clean. The eldest son would take care of his father’s business while the others became apprentices in some other trade or profession. Today, children aren’t forced to do a lot but be a child because they get to play, dance, and sing as they please. Through my eyes, Puritan children and adults had a much harder life than those of today.
As children, they were expected to do many things in order to please elders. The youngest son would become an apprentice in a trade or profession at the ages of ten to fourteen years old. When he became an apprentice, he would have to live with his master and would not be able to sleep in his home till he was done with his apprenticeship. Apprenticeship was pretty much the only known way of learning a trade....
