‘Blade Runner shows us a world in which the faults and shortcomings of our society are magnified.’ Do you agree?

Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is a representation of a world that has been socially and economically destroyed. It seems, from the time in which this film was produced, there were fears emerging amongst people that they would in the not too distant future, succumb to the effects of their own powers of capitalism and technology. In this film we see these fears of an ominous future realized. The people of this world are no longer unified by any sense of love or spirit and are left to fight for themselves amongst the coldness of humanity. Sadly, in this disastrous state one is able to see the remnants of a society much like our own and it is evident that such a place of hysteria would likely have formed as a result of the way we go about life today.
