“An Eye for an Eye’



From the beginning of time, crime has been evident in human existence, and from the first crime “And it came to pass, when they were in a field, that Cain rose up against his brother, Able, and slew him” (Genesis 4:8) there has always been punishment. Cain faced the punishment of being ostracized from his colony and sent to wander as a vagabond and a fugitive for his crime (Genesis 4:14). He was also branded with the mark of a murderer. Thus this shows us that crime in human life is inevitable. Crime is defined as, an act of violation against society and its laws. Punishment is the consequence of the crime. In society today murders are committed daily. Murderers’ actions are getting more and more incomprehensive. They are no longer just committing murder: they are torturing, mutilating, and engaging in grossly inappropriate acts against fellow human beings.
