“A lesson in life”

It has been almost four years now since the day I almost died. That day that I was lied to by one of my friends, a lie that nearly cost me my life. I was only sixteen, so young and so naïve. I was forced to grow up all at once, all in one horrific night.
It was a typical Friday night in Franklin, nothing to do, nowhere to go. It was one of those muggy hot July nights when all you can do is wait for the sky to open up and the rain to start pouring down. We had been having a lot of those nights in the last few weeks. The heat was unbearable. I was standing in front of my freezer with the door open, hoping to god that my mother would not walk into the kitchen. She hated when I left the door open…I was only trying to cool off…then my phone rang.
Everyday I think to myself, where would I be if I just had not answered it? But no answers ever come, and I grow tired of torturing my mind with memories. She called me, that girl that I sometimes wish I ...
