‘A BELIEF IS WHAT WE ACCEPT AS TRUTH’ ( J W APPS). IS THIS A CLAIM THAT YOU COULD DEFEND?

What is belief? Truth? More importantly can you believe something and “know” that it is not true? Truth does not conform itself to assumptions, if something is true it must be a complete fact. The Merrien-Webster Dictionary defines truth the state of being the case : FACT : the body of real things, events, and facts : ACTUALITY” Conversely belief is more personal, it can be the truth or just a personal belief which it is sometimes a fantasy or desire. The Merrien-Webster Dictionary1 defines belief as “to have a firm religious faith or to accept as true, genuine, or real” Thus supporting J W Apps claim, it is easier to simply assert that a belief is true, but that brings in knowledge. Knowledge can be defined as “justified true belief” thus suggesting in order for you to know something it has to be a true belief so ‘a belief must be something we accept as truth’ but does your belief necessarily have to be the truth?
