It was the 27th of August; it was a fine sunny Sunday afternoon, perfect weather for a football preliminary final. Athelstone vs. Modbury was the game to be played at 11:50am at Prospect Oval. 2nd place vs. 3rd place. During the season we played each other twice, it was one all in terms of wins and losses. It was sure to be a good and close game.
The first quarter went as I expected. They knew they were the underdogs so they came out all guns blazing, tackled hard, ran hard and played really well. We still had the lead at quarter time by a couple points. Our team performed rather well considering the pressure was firmly with us as we were always the second best team in the competition; they came above us on percentage. They had a class line up but ours was better. They revolved more around single players where was we had a better team game with of course the quality players who were the icing on the cake.
