Summary-

The book is about a 39-year-old Winston Smith returning to his dilapidated flat in Victory Mansions. As Winston walks through they hallway he sees a poster of a man knows as "Big Brother" and the caption reads "Big Brother Is Watching You". Later that day Winston decides to start a diary, which is not illegal but is somewhat life-threatening. Before writing "April 4th, 1984" Winston thinks about what he wanted to write. For a minute he was silent but eventually found what had inspired him to begin his diary.

What had inspired Winston was the "Two Minutes Hate" is about the "Enemy of the People". "Enemy of the People" is about a leading Party member name Goldstein. Goldstein who rebelled and disappeared to form the underground "Bortherhood". Goldstein is in every Hate as the source of all crimes against the Party. As the Hate goes on, people get worked up, shouting and throwing things at the screen.
